Sierra Kaplan, Veteran Volunteer Representative on the Board
I heard about AMIGOS for the first time from my mom, who was a volunteer in Ecuador in the 70s. I became a volunteer the summer after my sophomore year in Matagalpa, Nicaragua in 2010. I joined the training staff my junior year and volunteered again the next summer in Oaxaca, Mexico. I am now a Senior Staff Trainer for the Seattle Chapter and hope to join the training team in whatever city I end up in for college. At the moment I'm looking at a lot of East Coast colleges and am planning to study computer science and international relations. Hopefully I will also spend a year abroad in the Middle East or maybe Latin America. When I'm not doing homework, applying to college, at Amigos, or seeing friends I like to backpack and ski, volunteer with the ACLU, act in school plays, and rewatch the Lord of the Rings.
