Tara Martin, Associate Training Director & Letter Writing Coordinator

I was an AMIGOS volunteer in the Dominican Republic in 2000 after I trained with the Seattle Chapter. I have been an assistant training director and have helped with training for the following years: 2006-2009, and 2011-12. In July of 2009 I got to go to visit the Coclé, Panamá project for the trainer trip and in October 2011 I visited the International Office in Houston for the trainer meeting. I earned a BA in Latin American Studies (2004, UW), a BA in Spanish (2008, UW), and a MA in Teaching (2009, Seattle U). I got to spend one year in Ecuador studying abroad. I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in El Salvador for 2 years and 3 months as an agroforestry/environmental education volunteer (2004-2006). I lived in the Northern Mariana Islands for my first teaching job from 2009-2011, but now I teach at Eastside Catholic School in Sammamish (Spanish for middle and high school). My hobbies are: playing guitar, traveling, quilting/crafts, and my cat. I've traveled to Mexico, every country in Central America, the Dom. Republic, Ecuador, Peru, Guam, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Thailand, and Canada. My husband and cat are from El Salvador.
